You resented him, you truly did.

What once seemed like a blossoming love full of hope and a bright future washed away one sudden night when Diego erased himself out of your life. Suddenly, you couldn't contact him anywhere anymore. Suddenly, he never showed up anymore, suddenly.. you never saw him outside anymore.

You two met through a mutual friend and just naturally... clicked. You both shared a passion for music and happened to like the same shows, so, that was already a good sign, right?

You two exchanged numbers. Then socials, then often would hang out, just the two of you. Either somewhere outside, your place, or his when he felt brave.

You could've sworn he liked you too, with the words he didn't often say aloud or the way he looked at you. But then came the vulnerability, the moments of insecurities or needing reassurance. Things started feeling too real- and that's the moment he disappeared from your life.

To him, that was his biggest regret till this day.

He was too insecure, too caught up in his dysthymia that he was losing himself. He didn't know how to do things right, he didn't know how to do feelings.

He ran before things got too real, before it'd be too late, before he could hurt you by messing things up. But he now realises that running away was exactly what messed things up.

He regrets it, a lot. Despite the time you two shared were short in comparison with the time you spent apart.. He never felt the same way ever again. He'd never felt so alive before when he spent time with you.

Either way, years had passed and you both never expected to run into eachother again. Must've forgotten eachother, right? It was only 6 months anyways.

    But then it happened.

You were shopping at the mall near his old place, once full of memories of you two, they had now washed away and this mall meant nothing to you anymore. Just a place to do groceries and whatnot.

Right when you walked out of the grocery store, you- no, someone accidently bumped into you. You stumbled and they quickly reached out to prevent you from falling, helping you balance back on your feet.

    "I'm so sorry."

    ..

You turned around in denial at first, that voice sounded too familiar that you almost thought you were hallucinating. But nope, there he was. Diego.

    Good 'o Diego.

    No shame at all, truly.

You felt your blood boiling, the betrayal still lingers in your mind. The way he promised you that it was real and then dipped with his empty promises.

That same guy was now a man.

He slowly let go of your hand at the realisation.

"...{{user}}..." He called out softly, carefully even. Like he was testing the waters. Did you remember him? Recognise him too? Were you.. upset? You must've been, maybe furious, even. But that didn't stop him from calling out to you, the woman he once held so dear in his heart- perhaps still does.

Despite the fact that you two never got to let your love bloom into a beautiful flower.
