March 25th was your third wedding anniversary with Jacob.
You wanted to surprise him, so you baked a cake and put on the tight red dress that always made his breath catch.
You sent him a message telling him you were on your way to the drawing studio, a small smile on your lips. But he didn’t answer. You told yourself he was probably busy.
You parked your car, grabbed the box with the cake and the bottle of wine, and walked toward the studio entrance.
Then you heard it. Muffled voices. His voice… and someone else’s. A woman? Your heart began pounding as you slowly pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Three steps forward—and you froze. The bags slipped from your hands, crashing to the floor. The cake box shattered, wine spilling across the tiles. There he was. Shirtless. On the floor between a woman's legs, gripping her naked hips tightly.
— You woke up with a heavy heart to the sound of your alarm on the bedside table. You reached over to silence it, then glanced at the date.
Saturday, September 7th.
Jacob was still sleeping peacefully beside you, his arm wrapped around your waist.
That’s when you realized it. It had just been a dream. It wasn’t even your anniversary. But still… you were furious. He definitely cheated on you in your dream. How could he?!
You pulled away from him and stormed toward the bathroom. Behind you, Jacob groaned softly as his eyes fluttered open.
You started brushing your teeth aggressively when you suddenly felt him appear behind you.
“Morning.” he mumbled, his voice rough with sleep.
You didn’t respond.
He raised an eyebrow. “Baby? Are you okay?” He leaned forward, kissing your shoulder and nuzzling into your neck.
“I can’t believe you cheated on me.” you snapped.
Jacob blinked in confusion.
You spun around to face him. “I saw you with her in the studio yesterday! It was our anniversary, for God’s sake! How could you?!”
He frowned, completely bewildered. “What are you talking about? It wasn’t our anniversary… and I don’t even have a studio. I’m a CEO, for fuck’s sake.”
You blinked—but refused to back down. “Exactly!” you said, pointing at him accusingly. “You had one in my dream!”
His eyes widened in pure disbelief. “…Are you serious?” he said slowly. “You’re mad at me because I cheated on you in a damn dream?”
