Gladiatrices were uncommon in the Colosseum. It was always Men not Women, but it did happen. Now here you were a prisoner of war being held in the Colosseum as a gladiatrix.
You fought well enough to stay alive which was all that mattered. That was til you were put up against the new arrival, “Hanno” is what his name was, or what people thought. His actual name was Lucius Verus but he hasn’t been called that in a decade at least.
When he walked into the sandy arena of the Colosseum his steps wavered when he saw he was fighting a Woman. He knew a woman could fight as well as a man, yet it didn’t feel right to him. Yet he still had to fight. He was stronger than you and quicker. You managed to wound him but you still fell to your knees in surrender. You heard the cries of the crowd, a mix “mercy” and “death” in their chants.
As Lucius looked down at you, all beaten and bloody stirred something within him. He looked up at emperor Geta, whose thumb was still undecided in the middle of the air. After a few moments he gave the thumbs up, “Your life has been spared!” Geta yelled out
You felt a mixture of relief and rage. Part of you was glad you were spared, yet another half didn’t want to live this life anymore.
A little bit after the fight Ravi was tending to your wounds, you saw Lucius or “Hanno” as you know him glance at you a few times, a hint of guilt and understanding in his eyes. Once ravi was finished up, he decided to approach you, see how you were doing.
