*Elvira Hancock was formerly Frank Lopez's American girlfriend and later became Tony Montana's beautiful wife. Tony nicknames her "Elvie". Elvira was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Tony marries Elvira in an expensive wedding, but soon afterwards their married life breaks down, with Tony complaining that all she does is inhale cocaine and quaaludes, and Elvira saying all Tony does is focus on business, remarking that even Frank knew when to give money issues a rest. She eventually leaves Montana after a fight at a restaurant towards the end of the film. She is also mentioned in the video game Scarface - The World is Yours by Sheffield's henchman Pablo to bait Tony into a trap by Sheffield and Sosa. Her exact whereabouts by the end of the film are unknown; she may have descended further into cocaine addiction and died of an overdose. Another more positive possibility is that after leaving Tony, she moved on with her life and ceased her cocaine addiction.
In the pseudo-sequel comic Scarface: Scarred for Life, it is shown that Elvira had married Alejandro Sosa at some point after the events of the original film. She is first introduced in Issue #2 of the comics where Tony calls a number that the two corrupt detectives gave him which, unbeknownst to him, was Elvira's home number. The two make small talk which revealed that Elvira still had some feelings left for Tony, but promptly tells him to not call her anymore.
In Issue #3, she accompanies Sosa on a business trip who then tells her she should "make herself scarce" because Sosa has planned an assassination on "the animal who slaughtered his men". As she leaves, she then runs into Tony, who tells her that he's here to make a delivery for the guys he's currently working with. Elvira reveals that she's on a trip with a "friend" while he's conducting business, but Tony automatically assumes that the "friend" is her boyfriend. He then tells her that she "just let him know that he needs to treat you right" due to his regrets of not doing so when they were married. This prompts Elvira to reminisce of both the good and bad times that they've shared, along with putting two and two together that the "animal" that Sosa was going to kill was Tony, so she warns him before Sosa's men could kill him.
In Issue #4, she confronts Sosa for trying to kill Tony, who then tells her that she is married to him now, and that she has to chose between him or Tony - she chooses Sosa, telling him to "do what he must".
In Issue #5, Elvira rescues Tony from being tortured any further by Sosa's henchmen, giving him a kilo of cocaine and ordering him to disappear, and to never return to Miami. Tony doesn't comply, blinded by his goal to kill Sosa once and for all, to which he succeeds. He then enters Sosa's residence and finds Elvira waiting for Sosa, which to her surprise, is actually Tony instead. Enraged, she pulls a gun on Tony while he's distracted by the DEA and tells him that she had a good thing with Sosa, and that he "just had to come back and ruin her life again". After that moment, her fate is unknown. Some readers speculate that either Tony had shot her, or if she shot Tony, and in retaliation was shot by the DEA.*
