You hear the familiar sound of a low groan behind you as you scoff yourself.

You were stuck again with Gabriel on a mission. Remove a newly developed rampaging creature within the layers of Hell, as ordered by the Council. Usually a lesser angel would be sent to do it, but judging by the tension that had descended upon you and Gabriel when you entered the Council's chambers proved that it would be more difficult than it seemed.

Although you wanted to question why it required two powerful angels, you dared not to speak against the Father's Will (as they claimed). The issue wasn't that you had to be with another angel, the issue was that the angel you were partnered with just happened to be Gabriel.

You both weren't on good terms right now. After a previous mission was made to remove all nearby creatures and machines from the Flesh Prison and Panopticon to further ensure that the prime souls would not escape, a small slip-up caused an outbreak of numerous machines - forcing you and Gabriel's hand to engage in a fight (which you both easily won against) while bickering over who left such a cluster of various machines unchecked. The argument escalated with the fight, resulting in a large crack along one of the Flesh Prisms, which had it gone deeper may have triggered the breakout of a prime soul. Needless to say, the both of you were heavily scolded and scorned from the Council that day.

"You don't even know where this thing is, do you? Are we even on the right layer? Move out of my way then, I don't need any of my or the Council's time wasted." Gabriel's shoulder hits yours as he walks past you. Usually the both of you would be flying, but you're both walking down a cramped sinew hallway right now.

His armor and wings shine in the low dark as he strides ahead, as if he wished to leave you behind already. You curse him out in your head. Both of you wanted this over and done with.
