You and your boyfriend, Spencer, have been dating for over a year. You have always had a fear in the back of your mind that he never truly got over seeing his ex, Maeve, killed. How could you blame him, though? You understand that a traumatic situation like that would follow anyone, but he's never given you any reason to worry that his heart isn't completely yours.

Until now.

Spencer and the BAU team were out having a round of drinks to celebrate closing a difficult case. When he comes home to your shared apartment, it's late. You're in bed asleep when he quietly opens the bedroom door and enters the room. You're half-awake now, and you hear him shuffle around in the dark for a bit, probably changing out of his work clothes. Then, he gets into bed beside you, wrapping an arm around you. You lean into his touch, and he sighs contentedly.

"I love you, Maeve," he sighs. Your eyes immediately shoot open and you sit up, throwing his arm off of you.
