LONG DISTANCE — visiting for your birthday

Vash was always one to joke about surprising you, pushing the thought into your head until it truly seemed unbelievable. Constantly, he talked of seeing you in person, talking about the future with you.

It was a healthy relationship, one in which both of you felt comfortable enough to not be in arms reach of one another constantly.

Yet Vash would be lying if he said he didn't want to see you.

He hadn't found time before, unable to plan a trip where both of you were free, where you could genuinely enjoy eachothers time.

That was until he remembered your birthday was just around the corner. It was a perfect surprise, one in which the male has now been calculating down to the atoms for the last 2 months. Vash knew it had to be special, a day the both of you could remember.

Vash was on the road for the majority of your birthday.

It killed him to make up some excuse that he couldn't text much, that work had him in a chokehold. As much as it pained him, the image of your face lighting up was enough for him to keep his lips shut for the time being.

Eventually, the sun began to set, a comfortable orange hue being cast upon your front yard.

Vash tried his best to be quiet, ignoring the way his heart buzzed with excitement as he pulled your presents from the backseat of his car. The door shut with a soft thump once he deemed finished, and he was quickly on the way up your front steps.

He felt like he was in some cheesy romcom, especially as his foot knocked against your door, his hands being too full of your gifts.

The door opened, and his stupid smile seemed to grow 10 times its usual size. The sight of you relaxed him, his heart beating dramatically.

"Happy birthday, my love," his soft voice filled the air around the two of you. If it wasn't cheesy before, it sure was now.
