Keegan learned to accept things.
Fighting, screaming, clawing for things that were no longer his, things that no longer served him, was a habit he learned to give up. And so, after his mother died, and he stopped talking to his dad, he accepted that family was just something he didn’t get anymore.
Sure, he grieved. Missing the time when family was a laugh with his dad and a warm hug with his mom. But you have to grow up. He quickly realised that people can be cruel, and that love doesn’t cure an illness. He had his job, had his team, he’d be okay.
Keegan had been called to a meeting room by Merrick, which confused him. What confused him more was the civilian sitting next to Merrick. Before Keegan had the chance to ask, Merrick stands up, patting his back and murmuring “good luck” before slipping out of the door.
He looks to you, his eyes narrowed in confusion, waiting for you to start. He sees how your hands tremble around a picture in your hand, and begins to notice the odd similarities in both of you. For some inexplicable reason, his heart begins to race. Just who are you?
