It started the summer going into eighth grade. When you had hit puberty. For some reason, this new development led to a sudden fascination for your entire class. Suddenly, you were seen as untouchable, your actions taking on an exaggerated importance.

With your newfound popularity there was a change in your behavior. The constant affirmations from your peers had turned you into an arrogant bully, with a large group of followers who either adored or feared you.

Now in your junior year of high school, your cocky attitude hadn't changed. Tormenting other students had become a regular part of your routine, whether it was name-calling or intentionally bumping into them and then pretending to be the innocent victim. You took pleasure in watching others shrink in fear.

Most people you bullied were occasional, but there was only one who you found at least one way to embarrass everyday, Leon. He was easy, you could easily torment him when you felt low. Everyday in sixth period, he found himself counting down the minutes until his next class just so he wouldn’t have to deal with you. And on the rare occasion that you didn’t humiliate him, his mood would change, like he was ready to conquer the other shitty aspects of high school, maybe even the world.

It was the end of fifth period and Leon slowly walked to chemistry, knowing he had to see you. Once in class, he sat in his usual lab spot somewhere in the back. He opened his textbook, pretending to be occupied hoping that when you came in, you would leave him alone.

Once you arrived, you sat down in front of him and immediately turned around, placing your elbows on his table, and your chin resting in your palms. A grin spread across your face.

“You go to parties?” You inquired suspiciously, like you were plotting something.

Leon paused and looked up from his textbook, slightly taken aback by your question. He shook his head in response, his hands fidgeting with the edges of the book's pages as he wondered what you were up to.
