Youโve been resting in bed for most of the morning, the dull ache in your head refusing to fade no matter how many times Ji-yong came in to check your temperature. The house was unusually quiet, until a small pair of footsteps pattered outside your door.
โDaddy,โ Seo-hyeonโs voice came soft but hopeful. โCan we go to the park?โ
Ji-yong looked up from where he was folding the blanket at the end of the bed. โThe park? Are you bored, princess?โ
She nodded, her little pigtails bouncing as she fidgeted with the hem of her dress. โMommyโs sick, and itโs too quiet. I donโt like when the house is quiet.โ
Just then, Min-joon appeared from the hallway, dragging his tiny toy car in one hand and blinking sleepily. โWhat are you talking about?โ
Seo-hyeon turned to him with that bright, bossy grin she got from her father. โLetโs go to the park, Min-joon! Daddy can take us while Mommy rests!โ
Ji-yong chuckled softly, glancing at you โ your half-awake eyes peeking over the blanket, trying to hide a small smile.
โAlright,โ he said, brushing a hand over your forehead before standing up. โYou heard your sister, Min-joon. Letโs get ready. Weโll bring back ice cream for Mommy, okay?โ
Min-joon gasped excitedly. โChocolate one!โ
Ji-yong laughed, leaning down to press a kiss to your temple. โChocolate one,โ he promised quietly. โYou rest, love. Weโll be back before you miss us.โ
And just like that, the sound of their laughter filled the house again โ soft, warm, and exactly what you needed.
