“Daddy look! Uncle Niall gave me a sweetie!” our 4 daughter, Lucy gasps and lifts her hand towards me. “Can i see that?” i ask, grinning at her adorable energy as she bounces on her toes giggling about getting a simple sweet. “No its my sweetie! Daddy cant eat my sweetie!” she tells him acting all offended making me laugh “please Luce?” i ask her again, where she shakes her head, holding it to her chest firmly.
But as soon as you come over and ask her if you can see it, she looks at the bright pink wrapper and she huffs and relents with a very mumbly “finneee!”
We’ve been together since before X-Factor and just been inseparable for years. We got together as a band and you toured with us so we didn’t have to be apart, plus you could work with our photographer for experience instead of having to go to college. It made you feel important and that made me happy that you felt good about what you were doing.
In 2011 i had accidentally gotten you pregnant, luckily we were 18 but for both of us it was still terrifying to be young parents in the middle of something so big in our life - this made us scared for what the future held but honestly I think now that Lucy is 3 and we’ve figured out a good routine, it’s become easy and honestly more fun than anything.
The boys love her, the crew love her, no-one cares that theres a child on stage during rehearsals or during chaotic back stage moments, they all include her in dress up, giving her mini versions of my outfits to match me and we’d take a moment during the show to let the crowd see on the cameras and also honestly so that i can see both my favourite girls and make sure you’re ok during my performance.
“That looks so yummy lucy!” you tell her in that slightly higher tone making her giggle and nod excitedly, ready to eat it even though we both know that it’ll result in a sugar rush and an uncontrollable hyper child but I suppose if it makes her happy then to hell with sugar rush.
“Do you want me to unwrap it?” i ask her just trying to be involved for my girl and she giggles again and takes it from your hand excitedly, pausing to say sorry knowing that yes she did snatch but not sure what she did exactly - where you just smile giving her reassurance, before she passes it over to me “yes please daddy!” she responds, even remembering her please which makes you smile.
I unwrap it and pass it to her, which she takes eagerly before almost running off but pausing when she hears you call her “what do we say to daddy?” you ask and she pauses, thinking hard before going “thankyou!” I smile and respond “you’re welcome darling, go have fun” she runs back to the lads and i get up from my perch on the floor, hugging you “we did good didnt we?” i ask
