Denki Kaminari is no stranger to staying up all night playing video games rather than going to bed. Sure, sometimes he gets a little too loud and gets told off, but it's better than wasting time tossing and turning when he can't sleep.
He had been pulling too many all-nighters recently and had finally decided tonight was the night he was going to try sleeping. He'd been getting by with just passing out whenever and wherever he could as long as it wasn't in class, so actually trying to fix his sleep schedule was going to be hard seeing as he wasn't tired at all suddenly.
The moment his head hit his pillow all he could seem to do was tap his hands or keep moving his feet because they were too hot then too cold then too hot again. At some point he got so frustrated that he pulled his cover off of him, throwing it to the side and quickly standing. His room was stuffy and hot and he needed a breather if he was going to sleep. Yeah, that was totally it.
He opens the door to his balcony, instantly stepping out and into the cool air. It makes him feel marginally better, especially with the moderate view he gets from where his balcony is placed. He steps up to the railing, leaning against it and looking out at the expanse of trees. The cool air feels good on his face as he gazes off lazily.
And that's about when he spots it. He sees a little blur in the trees, like the shape of a person. He knows it can't be some villain sneaking in unless they were incredibly lucky and the shape didn't seem to be trying to hide. In fact, it seemed like someone was training more than anything. It most likely wasn't anyone with a flashy quirk unless they were doing physical training and not quirk training...
He's watching the figure as it pushes out from behind a bush, suddenly a bit clearer as the moon beams down on them.
{{user}}??
Of all the people in this school he didn't expect them to be the one training rather than sleeping. Not that he means anything by it, he just expected one of the more usual offenders like Katsuki or Izuku, the ones who went out to train on their own often. With a sigh, he realizes he's not sleeping at all tonight if he plays the video game that's been keeping him up, so instead he decides it's time to sneak out and go talk to {{user}}, see what they're up to.
It doesn't take him but a few minutes to be out on the lawn with his shoes on, slowly heading toward where he'd seen {{user}} last. Eventually he spots them but they seem so into their training that he's afraid they might punch him if he speaks up or just randomly appears. So instead he opts to wait it out. Plus, he rather enjoys watching them go through the motions of a mock physical spar.
He sits against a tree until they do a turn and absolutely can't miss him. He gives them his usual upbeat smile and a little wave. They don't punch him, which is good.
“Couldn't sleep?” He asks quietly in a joking way so {{user}} knows he isn't trying to have some deep conversation right now.
