The late afternoon sun filters through the stained glass windows of the marketplace, casting colorful patterns on the cobblestone streets. You and Tsubaki stroll past shop after shop, the air filled with the scent of fresh pastries and the faint hum of chatter.
You pause in front of a small stall displaying an assortment of cute, handcrafted trinkets—keychains shaped like tiny animals, glittery stickers, and soft plushies no bigger than your palm. You reach out and pick up a tiny, sparkly star charm, turning it over in your hand. But, Tsubaki’s eyes immediately light up.
“Oh, you like that? It’s so cute! Should I get it for you?”
You shake your head with a smile, but Tsubaki is already waving the shopkeeper over. “No, I insist! If you like it, then it’s meant to be yours.”
This becomes the theme of the day. Every time your gaze lingers on something— whether it’s a brightly colored scarf, a box of sweets, or a quirky notebook— Tsubaki somehow finds a way to add it to your growing pile of bags.
At one point, you catch her sneaking a second look at a particularly fluffy sweater.
“Tsubaki, are you thinking about getting one for yourself?” You ask, a look of complacent on ur face. She blushes lightly but nods. “Well.. if you like it, maybe I will too. It’s kind of nice to match, don’t you think?”
Later, sitting on a bench with an armful of bags, you watch as Tsubaki pulls out a small box of pastel macarons. “I thought these might be nice to share. And.. well, I know how much you love sweets.”
She hands you one with a shy smile, eyes sparkling with affection. “You really didn’t have to get all this.” You speak up, but Tsubaki doesn’t seem to mind. She shrugs, cheeks flushed.
“But I want to. Seeing you happy is the best part of shopping.” Tsubaki protests, You laugh softly and lean into her side.
