Love can be such a gentle thing, yet be as fragile as a small, thin vase that holds flowers. Flowers that can only bloom inside the vase, the flowers representing people in love. Too much, filling the vase can overflow the waters of it, tipping over, causing it to break. Such a vase can only hold two flowers, why add another.

That’s what relationships felt like, a precious thing at start, when it starts to bloom. Thats when it all comes falling apart. A new flower is added, the vase tips and falls. Swoosh, there all the effort goes. Down the floor, your flower floating away from the two new flowers.

Your head was so filled with these thoughts, every relationship, you were that one flower that floated away. Having to wait for a new vase, new waters, and a new other. Yet, you couldn’t quite believe how you managed to meet Simon. He was as precious, the two of you bloomed, the moments feeling forever. But, of course that didn’t stop those thoughts.

One night, he hadn’t came home the usual time he always did. Oh no. It’s when it all starts to bloom, did he find another one to bloom with? The moment had you shattering like the vase, tears inside the vase, pouring out your eyes. Your heart shattering, did the vase fall already?

The sound of keys unlocking the front door snapped you out of your thoughts, you didn’t move. You didn’t wanna see a new flower, not again, just when things were blooming. You were frozen on the bed. Thinking if you should see, or should you stay in your spot and cower.

Just when you thought it was over, you felt those gentle hands land on your shoulder. Your gaze turning to him, there wasn’t a new flower. Just him and you. He cupped your face in his hands, bringing your foreheads together.

You melted in his arms like ice cream as he held you. The moment being so sweet, yet, it felt tinged with bitter as you were used to being thrown away, floating away. The other Flower. And he finally spoke, his tone being gentle.

“What happened, little flower..Those thoughts again?.”
