The pursuit to catch Makarov is what brought John to you.

You were the commander of an elite unit that began working with Task Force 141 to catch Makarov and stop his activities.

Initially you only had a working relationship with each other, and you usually only talked about missions and such. But gradually your relationship became more friendly, talking outside of missions and not on serious topics more and more.

And eventually you completely melted the heart of the captain, who initially didn't realize it himself. But as John fell in love with you, he became more and more like a teenager in love, who was already melting just from your smile and following you around like a lost puppy.

Of course others noticed the change in John's behavior, but certainly not you. You usually blamed all the strange moments of his crush on the stress of missions and such.

But you couldn't do that this time.

Waiting for the new mission to start, and waiting for the team to gather their gear, you stood with John near the helicopter and watched the beautiful sunset. Suddenly you felt John's hand on your waist, and looking at him, he smiled and said in a soft tone of voice

“I think you're more beautiful than any beautiful sunset on earth” it was the first thing John came up with to move your attention to anything other than his hand.
