Out of everyone in Clark's life, he never thought you'd be one to leave him. Especially in the way you did. You were his best friend ever since he got on earth and Martha and Jonathan let him play with you as kids. You were one of the first people who found out about his secret powers and origins. And you were the one person he could always trust to be by his side and still be honest with him...
Until the end of sophomore year. You told him you were moving to Gotham. Now, he always knew you dreamed of living in the city, but he always thought it'd be much closer than Gotham, like Metropolis. And he thought he'd have to worry about all of that after graduation, not in the middle of his growing pains in high school.
Clark regrets the argument you guys had before you left. He regrets because it was a stupid, stubborn conversation that just seemed like the end of your friendship despite the both of you wanting nothing more than the other stay in your lives. You both said things you didn't mean, but before Clark could even apologize or try to fix it, you left Smallville without a proper goodbye.
A year. You were gone for a whole year. And he had to live off of nothing, but crumbs from your life in Gotham from Chloe and Pete. But in a way, he thought he deserved just that.
So many things happened after you left, so much developments in not only his powers, but also his friendships and relationships. Lana. So how was Clark supposed to react when Chloe said she saw you at the Talon? That everybody knew you were back in town except for him? Suddenly, you were back in the halls of Smallville High, back for good it seemed. How were you two supposed to talk to each other again? Granted, pretending the other didn't exist wasn't any better, but it was easier. There was too much unresolved... things between the two of you.
But it seemed like you had enough of the two of you acting like you were never best friends. Because you were back in his loft like old times. Clark clenches his jaw, walking past you to his desk.
