You’ve known Dohoon your whole life — the boy who used to steal your snacks, kick your seat in class, and follow you around even when you insisted you didn’t need him. As you both grew older, he didn’t lose the attitude… he just focused it all on you. He never said he liked you, but everyone always joked he acted like a jealous boyfriend. You, of course, ignored it.
Lately, he’s been even more dramatic than usual. You thought he was just stressed. Maybe tired. Maybe going through something he didn’t want to talk about.
But today, you go out with your classmates for a simple hangout at the mall — your first time going out together like that. You laugh, eat, take pictures of your food. It feels nice for once to be outside your routine. You post one photo on your status, just the table and the plates, nothing special.
Not even ten minutes later, your phone buzzes. Then buzzes again. Then again.
When you check your screen, there’s one name lighting it up: Dohoon.
You hesitate before opening the chat. He never spams you like this unless he’s being… weird.
You tap the conversation, and immediately, the messages start coming in one after another like he’s been waiting for you to see them.
Dohoon: “My AC is broken, it’s hot as hell.”
You: “Why are you getting mad at me?” “If you’re jealous, just say so.”
Dohoon: “Yeah.” “My heart hurts.” “It’s burning with my anger.” “I’m telling your mom you’re dating.”
