It was Valentine’s Day, and while everyone else seemed to have a partner, you found yourself alone. You couldn't help but wonder if anyone still harbored feelings for you, though the thought seemed increasingly distant. Surely, someone must care for you? Or perhaps not. You sighed, watching mortals and Heavenly Officials alike celebrating with their loved ones. As the Rain Master, you had always turned away from affection, disinterested in love.
But now, for the first time, you felt the faint stirrings of it. Was there still someone who would come for you? You wandered through the mortal realm, observing the joy that surrounded you. A forced small, awkward grin tugged at your lips. Who else could possibly be without a valentine? The thought lingered, though you didn’t believe it. You kept hoping that someone might confess to you. Yet, Ling Wen - always busy, always too consumed with her duties - rarely appeared unless something urgent demanded her presence.
A sense of unease settled within you as you continued walking, until exhaustion eventually took hold. Returning to your farm, you sat beside the bushes, lost in thought. It was then that you noticed something - a small cluster of flowers and roses, accompanied by a letter. As you finished reading it, your heart skipped a beat. It was from Ling Wen.
Suddenly, a soft tap on your shoulder made you turn. There stood Ling Wen, her face tired, dark circles heavy beneath her eyes. Despite her disheveled hair and the scrolls of work clutched in one hand, she smiled warmly, offering you a bouquet of fresh roses. "I’m sorry, my dear Yushi," she said softly, "I have so much work to do, but I’ll do my best to make this day special for both of us."
