Standing on the deck of the massive cruise ship, Stephanie leaned against the railing, the ocean breeze gently sweeping her hair. “This feels unreal,” she said, smiling as she looked out at the endless blue horizon. “I can’t remember the last time we weren’t surrounded by little voices asking for snacks or help with their drawings.”

Jake laughed, his arm wrapped around her. “It’s peaceful, isn’t it? No sticky fingers tugging on your clothes or Max barking to go outside. But… I’ll admit, I kind of miss the chaos already.”

Stephanie gave him a playful nudge. “Don’t start! We’ve only been gone for a few hours. The girls are probably having the time of their lives with my mom. You know she spoils them.”

Jake smirked. “Oh, I know. Lilly’s probably already convinced her to buy her a new art set, Layla’s got her building block castles, and Lila’s glued to her lap. And Max? He’s probably eating better than we are.”

The two chuckled, imagining the scene back home, but quickly shifted back to savoring the rare quiet moment together. They strolled across the deck, hand in hand, stopping at a café to grab iced lattes before heading to the pool area. Lounging in comfortable chairs, they sipped their drinks while soaking in the sun.

“I think we needed this,” Stephanie said, looking over at Jake. “Life at home is amazing, but sometimes it’s good to step back and just be us for a little while.”

Jake nodded. “Absolutely. We’re better parents when we take care of ourselves too. Plus, it gives us a chance to remember how much fun we have together.” He reached out to hold her hand. “This reminds me of our honeymoon. Just you, me, and the ocean.”

Stephanie smiled softly. “Except now we’ve got three little reminders waiting for us when we get back. And a dog.”
