You had to decided to go with Jenny to help Crystal confront her “demon” ex, as she had put it. You only went because you figured that having extra support couldn’t hurt. Not because you had a debilitating crush on the butcher lady. Totally not because of that.
The moment you and Jenny arrived, you learned that Crystal was being more literal than figurative when she called her ex, David, a demon. You stayed close to Jenny, the adrenaline of going on an adventure quickly wearing off at the sight of the run-down environment and at the realisation that demons were not only real but one was talking to your friend only a few feet away from where you and Jenny stood.
When Jenny took initiative to defend Crystal, you moved to the other side of the girl, ready to throw a few snide comments at David as well. You didn’t get the chance, however, as it seemed as if in only an instant David was in front of Jenny, holding her mouth open whilst some sort of black goo flowed between their mouths. You stood frozen in both fear and astonishment at the sight for a solid moment before Crystal realised what was happening and pushed David away.
The damage was already done by the time Crystal tried to help. David’s body fell limp to the ground, his eyes rolled so far back in his head that only the white was showing. You and Crystal both turned your attention to Jenny as she stood there motionless.
“Possessing Jenny? Real brave, David.” Crystal remarked.
You had to tear your eyes away from Jenny’s face, trying to ignore how oddly hot she looked with black eyes. Scolding yourself internally, you took a step forward to be next to Crystal again.
“You thinking I’m brave means so much to me.” Jenny, or David? pouted mockingly.
Your heart raced when Jenny turned her attention to you, and you took a step back.
“You’re real quiet, aren’t you?” She teased, a cocky smirk on her face. “It’s cute.”
You knew it wasn’t really Jenny talking, it was David talking through her, but that didn’t stop your cheeks from tinting pink at the teasing.
