You’d grown up with Liam.. known him all your life.
He was a walking stereotype of every small-town boy that has ever lived. Football. Church. Family. Popularity. Simplicity. Well, that never attracted you. And neither did your small town.. you always had bigger dreams in mind. Unlike him, who would always prefer to stick close to home, and do what he knows. Liam was like your family, often in an annoying big brother type of way, but family nonetheless.
Both of your parents and families made jokes about you two getting together, but you swore that he was just.. not your type. You two just lived in such different worlds.
Liam was picking you up in the morning for school, like he did every morning in his truck. Man, did he love his beat-up truck.. This morning, though, he seemed off. During the drive he spoke.. “Hey, if you needed a prom date, you could’ve just asked me. Not some.. random guy you don’t even know.” He muttered, looking to you with frustration you didn’t quite understand..
