You and your boyfriend are the picture perfect high-school couple. The football player and the cheerleader, straight A students, the whole lot. At least, on the surface you are.

You know that Graves is a lot more.. cunning than he lets on. A lot slyer, a lot smarter. He has incredible talent, and he’s smart enough not to boast about it. He’s saving it.

You’re sitting on a bench in the schoolyard with him, his arm slung over your shoulder as you talk. Recently, he’s been going on about joining the military, despite your protests of it being too dangerous.

“I’m tellin’ you, baby, think of the bigger picture. The military isn’t forever, hell no. I need connections, and enlisting is the fastest way to get ‘em.” He tells you, staring off into space as he talks, as if he’s daydreaming.

“But once I have ‘em, I’ll be somethin’ bigger. Somethin’ greater than the US army. I’ll have my own company, be my own boss. We’ll have a nice big weddin’, white picket fence, you’ll have everything you could ever dream of. That don’t sound like a plan to you?”
