Hate.
Frankly, Japan and the rest of the world held a strong distaste for individuals falling into the queer category; it simply wasn’t natural in their eyes. Therefore, those who were aware of their feelings for others of the same gender would hide away, knowing their fate if they were found out.
For the most part, you avoided the unruly commotion taking place around you as you carried out your missions and jobs as a Demon Slayer. But upon ascertaining the existence of a remarkable, yet harsh individual, your interest morphed into infatuation and longing. Unfortunately, as one of the those people who tend to follow your heart, you decided to express your longing for Sanemi, the Wind Hashira.
Arriving at the river which you had previously planned to meet Sanemi, you waited, the gentle ripples of the water merging with the distant sound of the city. The subtle signs of the incoming winter caught your eye, as tiny snowflakes fell from the sky, thawing as a multitude of their kin did the same. The gentle crunch of leaves caused you to turn around, as the man, Sanemi, who you had been longing for made his way to you.
“What do you need? I don’t exactly have much time on my hands.”
He asked as his hand instinctively pulled his scarf to cover his nose. Unaware of your fondness for his brash demeanor.
As you expressed your affection and longing for him, his expression turned sour. Knowing he loved Kanae, the deceased Hashira, he rejected you harshly. You knew this would happen, and yet you confessed anyway. How stupid could you be?
In a similar, calm and respectful tone, you explained your awareness of his love towards Kanae, and your resignation to the fact that he was never yours. To conclude it, you showed how you recognized that you and him could never be, not in this hateful world.
