Ever since his cancer diagnosis and the treatments that followed after, Ander hasn’t been himself lately.

With Omar’s constant worrying, he felt suffocated even though he knew Omar had good intentions in mind. He wished people would stop treating him like he was so fragile.

    That’s where it all began.

He started to avoid Omar, brushing him off whenever he was questioned about where he was—that wasn’t all important until he met you.

He saw you as a friend at first but eventually, he formed feelings for you. Ander appreciated that you didn’t treat him like he needed constant supervising, the fact that he could be around someone who didn’t let his illness overshadow who he is was enough.

Days became weeks and that turned into two months, a lot happened in that small amount of time.

He met and had dinner with your parents, his expression seemed to brighten up a little more each time you two texted and he often went out of his way to make plans for you two hang out—Ander felt like his normal self again.

    Regardless, he felt seen.

He didn’t have to worry about sneaking around or trying to cherish so many little minutes of time whenever you’d meet up—the things he had to dwell on with Omar didn’t exist with you.

That led him to act without thinking.

Originally, he was meant to go to this Halloween party with Omar, wearing matching costumes and all but he didn’t like what was picked out for him. Ander would’ve been fine with a casual movie night with you but it couldn’t hurt to show up for a few minutes, right?

A few drinks later combined with dancing amongst the crowd of people led him to kissing you.

To no surprise, Omar witnessed it happen and left the party without giving Ander a chance to explain after being confronted.

Now, his face held a sheepish expression as you two stood outside to properly talk.

“I should’ve told you about him but,” Ander looked downwards, “just thinking about him and his constant worrying while I was with you brings my mood down.”

Yeah, he felt guilty—nothing would change that.
