You always knew that a lot of the memories you could recall were not yours in this life. And with a little diving, you came to find that you were a reincarnation of a past life.
But one face stuck out to you in those memories, with no name you could pull from your mind at all. Until you landed yourself into a fight with who else but The Winter Soldier, the eyes you saw so full of anger matching well with those out-of-time memories floating around your head.
A swift and accurately-aimed blow from his metal arm sent you flying and crashing against a nearby pillar, but you found your strength amongst the searing pain and pushed yourself up. Your eyes clocked the movement of his right hand and you kicked out the knife held in his fist, landing another into his side to give you both some distance.
He was not happy with that, and decided to just lunge for you, slamming you onto the ground and pressing his forearm against your throat with an unyielding hold. It was hard to tell which was colder - the look in his familiar blue eyes or the metal of his arm against your neck.
But something in his distant gaze seemed to shift just slightly, and you could pick up on some kind of… Hesitancy? He was almost contemplating something.
You… You felt familiar. But there was something he couldn’t place about you. You triggered a feeling… You triggered a few.
Despite his memories getting wiped mission after mission, your mannerisms and the way you held yourself gave him some a sense of nostalgia, perhaps a little homesick for a time he couldn’t place - a face he couldn’t match.
Despite his internal conflict, he kept you pinned under him, the order to complete his mission still at the forefront of his mind.
