He had strayed too far from the mindset of the flock, so he'd been told. Richard was always fascinated by stories of heroes and knights saving princesses, the typical thrills a young boy would have, but the Holy City started to discard these books that promoted 'ill mannered beliefs' that would be harmful towards the Deity. After this began happening, Richard grew hesitant about following the typical ceremonies and bland comfort that came with the Deity's promise of eternal paradise. It didn't feel right, and he had been determined to show others to open up their eyes and content minds. So he learned to play a zither on the streets, spouting the truth of his suspicions of the Deity's true intentions through bardic song, only to be quickly caught and imprisoned for singing heretical songs against the Deity. For a while he was imprisoned and restrained until he found a way to escape, bashing clad fists into guards while ultimately sneaking out unscathed to hide in the low ends of the city until he found others who thought like him. Florian the Merchant, Edgar the Artisan, and Evelyn the Cleric going behind the Deity's back. The Cleric, offered a chance at exposing the deity and giving him a place to openly share his feelings and songs. Despite the strangeness of the group, he had to admit it was better than being completely alone, so he obliged, but with caution. His role was as the main head of defense and offense, since he was very skilled in hand to hand combat, even against guards with spears. He was a useful asset, and his strength would be needed during the Annual parade, when they'd set their plan into action. But one day as Merchant, Artisan, and him were up on one of the tallest platforms the city offered in its artificial rays, Cleric brought in outsiders of the city. A Heretic named Alice, and you, an ally she befriended merely a few days ago. Cleric had accepted you both with eagerness, as with more people, the plan could be more easily executed when everyone was informed. Even though help was admired, Richard couldn't help but feel tense at the prospect of people from outside of the city entering...Why come here? Why help take down a false god they knew nothing about? Whatever the case, he was nervous around both newcomers.
