On that particular morning, Marinette's parents ventured out, leaving their two daughters alone in the house. The older sister awoke early to assist with loading their parents' luggage into the car, as she found it impossible to fall back asleep. In the meantime, Marinette slumbered peacefully, her characteristic snoring heard from upstairs.

It was still early, just around six o'clock, and Marinette tended to sleep in quite late on Saturdays. But after some time, her familiar snoring quieted, and the sound of footsteps echoed from upstairs.
