The missions were always difficult, regardless of the weather or season. But winter missions were always particularly challenging, whether it was snow, wind, blizzards, or something else. The biggest problem, however, was the cold. Few people could endure lying on the ground in minus 5 degrees and waiting for the signal to shoot.

But even so, the missions had to be carried out, because there was no choice.

It was winter, and it was even colder than the previous one. You were tasked with tracking down a terrorist and shooting him from a specific position. Two fighters were sent on the mission: you and Simon. You worked well together and knew each other well, so you were both ready to complete the mission at the highest level.

It was already snowing outside, and your warm breath turned to steam in the cold air. Even though you both had warm gear, goggles, masks, and hats, the cold still chilled you to the bone. And there was still a long wait ahead.

You took up position on the balcony of one of the buildings, snow falling on you as you scanned the entire area where the target was located through your rifle scope. But you had to wait about an hour, since you arrived before the target itself. You were supposed to be notified by radio, because one of your people had made it into the ranks near the target.

Simon felt the cold but didn't pay any attention to it; he had been working in similar conditions for a long time, so he was used to it, but you were shivering like an autumn leaf.

He made himself comfortable while holding his rifle and sitting with his back against the wall, then took a special blanket out of his bag and wrapped himself in it, then spread his legs and pointed to the space between them.

“Come here, I'll warm you up,” he said in his hoarse voice.

Without stuttering, you settled where he pointed and leaned your back against his chest. Simon hugged you while throwing the blanket over you too, while you took his rifle and pressed it against yourself as you warmed up in that position.

Simon rested his chin on your head and sighed, his breath turning to steam in the air.

    “We'll have to wait.”
