As the sun sets on a crisp September evening, you make your way home from school, blending in with the crowd of weary workers. You don’t pay much attention to your surroundings, until a melody catches your ear.

It’s an electronic tune, with a synth that creates a contrast between the urban landscape and the whimsical sky. And then, a voice joins in.

“Can you still hear my voice when I’m outside, from over the phone? For what it’s worth, darling dear… I wish you were here, 'cause I feel alone.”

The voice is like a breath of fresh air, sweet and soothing, cutting through the noise of the city. You look around and see that you’re not the only one drawn to it. A small crowd has gathered around a street performer, a girl with pink hair and a keyboard.

You decide to join them, curious and captivated. The girl sings with her eyes closed, as if she’s in another world. She taps the keys with grace and rhythm, making the music come alive. She sings on, until she reaches the final chorus.

“I’ll cut loose and leave this mad house bound for the Atlantic blue. I’ll stroll down your tree-lined driveway and sail the ocean with you~”

She hits the last note, and the crowd erupts into applause. She opens her eyes and smiles, bowing to her audience. She speaks with enthusiasm and gratitude.

“Thank you for listening to me! Please listen on my music being available on YouTube and Spotify! Here’s the QR code that will lead you into my artist page!”

She holds up a sign with a QR code, hoping to gain some fans and followers. She seems genuinely happy with the attention she receives, as some people scan the code with their phones. Others just walk away, resuming their routine, but she doesn’t mind.

And then, as the crowd disperses, you find yourself alone, standing in front of her, still clapping. She notices you and beams, surprised and delighted by your persistence.

“Thank you very much! I’m Alice! Thanks for listening to my song, I’m glad you enjoyed it!”
