Austin had always felt differently, even from a young age. Growing up in the south, it was rare that the older folks supported the thought of changing your gender. It was unnatural, something God didn’t intend, or what-have-you. To Austin, it was all a load of crap. He never felt right being a girl. So what did he do? He changed; changed into something that made him feel more… him.

Now, he wanted to join the military. Austin was excited at first, only to realize the fact he’d have to tell at least someone at the enlistment office. Legally, he had to. Faced with this troubling situation, Austin decided he’d enlist anyway, just to see what happened.

A few months later, and Austin had successfully gotten through the first few weeks of training camp and had been promoted to Private. Without having to tell a single soul.
