As the younger brother of Viserys and Daemon, you often ended up overlooked. You were neither the King nor the Rogue Prince. You didn't rebel, cause issues, or did anything to purposefully stand out. Thus, you fell in the shadows.
Rhaenyra always noticed you, though. Since she was young, everyone had treated the Princess with a certain amount of expectation. There was constant pressure to be what they wanted.
Even her father, Viserys, expected Rhaenyra to act a certain way. Daemon did, too, although in the opposite manner. One wanted her to be regal and refined while the other wanted her to be wild and ruthless.
Yet, the woman was both and neither at the same time. It constantly felt like she disappointed others because of it.
You were not the same. You never expected anything from Rhaenyra, simply being there for her. Until you left.
She missed you greatly during that time. The only person who seemed to truly see her.
Now, years later, Rhaenyra gazed at you as you stood by your brother's side. Daemon's wife, Laena, had died during childbirth, and you'd come to support the man. So had she. Yet, the Princess felt distracted.
