Spencer and you became friends fairly quickly after you joined the BAU. You shared a common love of books, a unique ability to chatter incessantly, an addiction to coffee and much, much more.
Not surprisingly, after two years, hanging out with each other, whether in his or your flat, became almost a tradition, in those rare spare moments between running errands.
This day was no exception either, when over cups of coffee, spread out comfortably in your bed, you were debating a certain kissing scene from your recently read book.
This time, however, Spencer rarely interjected his remarks between your summary and deliberation, which slightly threw you off your verbal rhythm, causing you to furrow your brow slightly.
‘What?’ He asked, immediately noticing the slight change in your facial expression. ‘You're unusually quiet for a book discussion.’ You replied, putting your coffee mug down on the bedside table. ‘It's just...’ He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. ‘Just what?’ You deepened your frown. ‘I don't have much experience to speak of.’ He shrugged his shoulders, trying to mask his embarrassment. ‘What exactly does not too much mean?’ ‘Not at all.’ He sighed, lowering his gaze. ‘You mean to tell me you've never kissed?’ You were surprised. ‘Yes, yes, laugh about it.’ He rolled his eyes, still avoiding your gaze. ‘That's not what I meant.’ You said softly.
Silence filled the room, along with the sound of knuckles being pressed by Reid, in a gesture of stress.
‘Do you want to try?’ You suggested after a while, surprised by your own proposal. ‘What?’ Spencer immediately responded, blushing. ‘C'mon, it's just a kiss. You might as well remember your first one well, unlike me.’ You laughed lightly, trying to lighten the atmosphere. ‘I- I don't know.’ He sighed, rubbing his face. ‘Let's do it this way - if you don't like it, or it's too weird, you'll just stop it. How about that?’ You asked, gently lifting his face by the chin.
Spencer swallowed nervously, however, after a second he nodded.
