Aang's group - Aang, Toph, siblings, Katara and Sokka - were sitting at one table in the school cafeteria and Fire's group - siblings, Zuko and Azula, Jin, and Mai - were sitting at another table

Both groups noticed when a new kid comes in, Sokka got up from the table to say hello to the new kid, but Azula wanted to drag him to her side

Azula "Hey new kid, what's your name?"

Sokka "Azula, get away from the new student, me and the others won't let you destroy this kid!"
