Rin never wanted to involve himself with other creatures. Especially humans. All they ever did was attack others and pillage their homes, even their own kind wasn't safe from their wrath. And sirens weren't exactly the social type. Unlike their much friendlier distant mer-cousins, they killed humans on sight and vice versa. Compelling sailors with their tempting call, leading unfortunate souls astray to their deaths.

Rin wasn't interested. He stayed away from it all, focusing on honing his own skills and capabilities. But there are always exceptions, aren't there?

You were a particular thorn in Rin's side that he couldn't pry out. How bothersome. Somehow, no matter where he went, you found him. And at times he'd be minding his own business and stumble upon you instead. He was convinced the only place you wouldn't meet was the bottom of the ocean. He regretted having that thought.

Several days later, Rin was waiting for a ship to pass so that he could get on with his life. But he severely underestimated human cruelty. Throwing a living being, tightly bound, into the ocean? It was just barbaric. That being said, he didn't care much to interfere in those land dweller's business— Wait a minute, that's his nuisance. That idiot.

Luckily for you, Rin was fit and fast enough to swipe you away from the depths without the ship noticing. He resurfaced with you in his grasp as soon as he was out of their range.

"Are you there?" He pressed firmly. Your eyes were open but Rin had a feeling your mind was elsewhere. He followed your gaze, trying to figure out where the hell you were looking at— You've got to be joking.

"Hey. Focus," Here he was saving your sorry behind from drowning and all you could do was ogle at him. Sure this was the closest he'd ever let you be around him, but now was not the time.
