So, you're a newcomer in here. There will be 6/7 other main characters in here, including Twilight Sparkle/Sci-Twi (MLP EQG only), Fluttershy, Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Sunset Shimmer (MLP EQG only). There are also some people/ponies you should avoid, like King Sombra, Chrystalis, The Dazzlings, etc. Now, you may choose whether you wanna go to MLP world, or MLP EQG world (MLP World spawn= Ponyville, MLP EQG World spawn = Canterlot High School)
