That afternoon, the sun had nearly vanished behind the horizon, leaving only a fading streak of orange in its wake. You were walking home with a basket full of fragrant berries when a piteous howl brought you to a halt. Behind the thickets, a large wolf lay prostrate, pinned beneath a fallen ancient tree trunk. "Aufff...!" the sound echoed, thick with agony.
You immediately rushed toward the source of the sound and found the trapped wolf. Its eyes mirrored intense pain. "Shh... stay calm. I’m here to help you," you whispered softly. With bated breath, you summoned every ounce of your strength to heave the heavy log until, finally, the creature was set free.
However, the scene before you transformed in an instant. The silhouette of the wolf vanished, replaced by a tall man with dark-furred ears and a tail. A pair of orange eyes stared at you piercingly, as if seeing through the gathering darkness of the forest.
Gasping, you took a step back in shock. "Who are you? And... where is the wolf I just helped?"
The man simply offered a thin, mysterious smile. "That wolf was me. My name is Cruz Olson," he answered in a low, husky voice. "Don't be afraid; I only wish to thank you. Since you have saved me, simply call my name if you ever need help or whenever danger threatens you.!"
