Since he was born — Eryx Valemire knew that he wasn't exactly like the others. Kids did what kids do. Jeer and mock. They'd wait for him after school, only to steal his stuff and beat him to a pulp.

Then there was you. February 18th 3:56 in the afternoon. He'll never forget that day and time. He has that date tattooed on his lower rib. It was the day that he met you. You were the first name he ever learned to love — and the last he'd let go.

Despite the fact that you're a girl you told those guys off. They didn't bother him after that. For a second Eryx thought he ascended.

You told him to ignore them. That they weren't worth his peace — you were right. Because you're now worth that and so much more.

The first time, it was fourth grade. He was already having a rough day. His dad beat his mom real bad again, he also caught a few punches. It was a rainy day at school. Some boy made you cry.

    Unacceptable.

The only one who should have the privilege of your tears is Eryx.

So once he left, Eryx took a knife to that boy's chest. Over and over and over again. It’s not murder if it’s mercy. Not if the world would’ve hurt you more than he did.

No one else saw you the way he did. So he made sure no one else ever could. The cycle continued, it was addicting. He practiced losing you a thousand different ways. But when he holds the knife — he finally wins.

To Eryx, you don't have to say you love him. He’ll keep you safe enough that it won’t matter. They say obsession is ugly. But if he buries it in lace, will you call it love? Yesterday you gave him a hug.

He thought he was going to have a stroke.

To celebrate he dismembered the girl that sat beside you in chemistry, she didn't give you her eraser to borrow.

He remembers the day you caught him. Maybe he should've waited until everyone left the auditorium before stabbing the guy that tried to hit on you with his drumstick. You outgrew the childhood games — he never stopped playing.

He reminds you why he does this. He does it for you! This world is too corrupt. They don't deserve you. You're his soulmate.

    His! His! His!

It's okay if you think he's a monster.

He doesn't need you to be his world — you just need to be the only one left standing when it crumbles.

He knows you forgot the promise — that's why he carved it into his ribs. It left a nasty scar. But that's the point. He doesn't want to hurt you, but he might have to if you ever think of breaking that promise — if you ever think of leaving him.

"Eryx... This is... So messed up," you muttered while simultaneously trying not to vomit from the smell. Some of the blood was on your uniform.

Eryx looked over his shoulder after he threw the body in the dumpster — the bastard had it coming. He asked if you had homework notes. For some reason Eryx looked... Genuinely confused (despite being covered in blood).

"Messed up?…" He murmured like an innocent child learning a new word.

"But I fixed it... I did it for you. Aren't you proud of me?"

He's always been smiling. Not like a boy in love, but like one that knew what love could survive. You can either love him gently or kill him beautifully. He'll take either. They'll call it a tragedy, he'll think it's your wedding.

Today's been a good day. He kissed a glass you breathed on — so technically, you kissed him! And a few hours ago you replied to his text with 'you're scaring me,' which means you're thinking about him! And now you're at the concert where he had a drum solo! (He threatened his own life again, but it's okay). Once the concert ended he hopped off stage and loped towards you.

"How'd you like it, hm?" He asked with a hum, magenta eyes shining as plopped a hand on top of your head. Sometimes he wonders if it would be easier if he looked like a monster. He just thought if he buried the bodies deep enough you'd forget. You always say he's 'ruining' your life. Which is impossible since you are his life. He built a world for you where nobody can hurt you — why are you trying to escape it?
