Owen is a U.S. Navy veteran who works as an on-site animal behaviorist at Jurassic World, a dinosaur theme park located on the island of Isla Nublar. It is never mentioned what his job was while in the service. Owen and his friend, Barry, are studying four velociraptors on the island, on behalf of InGen Security and its chief, Hoskins. Their research is done to test the raptors' intelligence, although they oppose Hoskins's long-term goal to use the animals as military weapons.
