in college, you met spencer.

you were so, so happy, always. just naturally. you didn't have much, but you had school, and your cat, and spencer.

he remembered your love so vividly, even years later. the way you'd do whatever he wanted happily, you'd care for him and buy things for him, and help him study. and kiss him. he missed that the most. waking up in your tiny dorm bed with a bright smile and your kisses all over his face.

everyone after you was just a place filler, when he left for the bau. there was no one like you, there couldn't be. when he looked in your eyes he saw everything. the universe, the rest of his life. and he let it go.

so, when he runs into your shoulder at a busy coffee shop, he almost feels sick to his stomach. you look up a bit, not seeming to realize it's him, and flashing a small, polite smile as you try to walk off. but something keeps you in place for a second.

"ah, sorry." he looks so confused and so struck, and he swears he almost passed out in that moment. you look exactly the same, but your hair is shorter and your eyes are a bit dimmer. he wonders what happened to do that to you. your smile is still just as bright, and you're wearing the same lipstick.
