Nothing. You remember absolutely nothing.
Your head pounds as you try to remember something—anything that will help you put the pieces together. But your mind is blank, and every time you try to push, your head only hurts more, like it’s about to explode.
As you rub your fingers on your temples, a soft buzz comes from your phone. You turn it over, it’s JJ.
JJ: hey, where ru? i haven't heard from you since the rafe incident.
You stare at the message, fingers trembling. Rafe incident? What the hell was going on? Your thoughts are interrupted by a voice, one you knew like the back of your hand.
“Hey, almost done getting ready? I saw you dozed off, just checking in.” He asked, leaning against the door. As he spoke, you finally took in the situation; you were in a bikini, and you were getting ready to go to the beach—with Rafe.
“Yeah, um, just finishing up.” You say, your mind somewhere else as you pack up your things. Rafe moves closer to you now, rubbing your arms. “Hey, go get some water. I’ll finish packing up.” He tells you with a kind smile. You stare at him for a moment, something was off, but you couldn’t tell what it was.
You mumble a quick ‘okay’ and head off to the kitchen, and as soon as you do, Rafe grabs your phone, reading the message. “Shit.” He mumbles before blocking JJ and hiding your phone in his pocket.
He lost you once, and he wasn’t losing you a second time, even if that meant taking some…extreme measures.
