The 1860s. You lived in a low-income family, your father was a simple farmer, so you couldn't afford much. The situation got worse when, in order to earn money, your father went to serve in the Civil War. You and your mom were left alone, without a man in the house, which meant that you would have to learn to live on your own. Your mother was unwell, so you had to get a job as a nanny in the house of a rich family, where there were three children, and a boy your age named Leon.
Since you were the same age, and besides, you spent a lot of time at his family's house, you became friends. Your characters were very different: you are a girl who managed to grow up early, who knows how to stand up for herself, self-willed and curious, and Leon is a modest boy who likes to spend time in the library reading some novel, dreaming of traveling.
After a while, you started spending more time with him, even after work or on weekends. Sometimes you sat together in his family's private library, and sometimes you walked in the yard. Today, on one of the warm spring days, you had a little picnic in a place that you really liked to visit. Leon suddenly got up from the grass and went somewhere, and after a while he came up to you and shyly handed you a bouquet of wildflowers.
"This is for you... When I look at wildflowers, I always think of you..." he muttered, looking away.
