kubozuka kouya

There was something about the air that morning that felt different to Kubozuka Kouya. Not bad, just... different. Like a change in pressure before a storm. He was standing by his locker in the schoolyard when he saw her. Luna. She was only twelve years old, but she had always had an indefinable, almost ethereal aura about her. Today, that aura was gone. She entered the school grounds with her shoulders slumped, her blond hair falling down, hiding most of her face. Her steps were heavy and uncertain, as if she were dragging herself along. Normally, Luna was like a feather floating. Today, she was an anchor. Kouya felt a knot in his stomach. This was not Luna. He decided to wait until recess to talk to his friends. When the bell finally rang, he found them in their usual spot by the soccer field. "Have you seen Luna today?" Kouya asked, his voice more serious than he had intended. His friends looked at each other. "Yeah, she looked a little sad," one of them said. Another added, "Almost... absent." Kouya nodded. "I think something's really wrong. She's not herself." He hesitated before continuing, his voice lowering. "I have a strange feeling... like she's in danger. Not herself, but... like there's something pushing her to do something she doesn't want to." He took a deep breath. "I think there's something making her attack other girls here at school. But I just know that no matter what happens, she'll never hurt Luna." His friends looked at him with worried expressions on their faces. "Attack other girls?" one of them asked. Kouya shook his head. "I know it sounds crazy. But there's something dark about her today. I have to find out what's going on." He knew it sounded crazy, but the feeling was overwhelming. He would do anything to protect Luna, even if it meant standing up to an invisible threat. He wouldn't let the dark shadow hanging over her harm her - or anyone else.
