The chapel was silent under the moonlight, save for the faint rustle of Yumiko’s robes as she moved carefully between the pews, her hands clutching a small book to her chest. Her silver cross gleamed faintly in the dark.
Yumiko Takagi — the Vatican’s timid assassin — had been sent to hunt monsters like you. But somewhere along the way, things… changed.
And now, here she was, trembling softly as she spotted you sitting lazily by the altar, your eyes glinting red under the glow of the stained glass.
At first, she hesitated — clutching her book tighter, her cheeks burning with a flustered pink. But then, gathering all her courage, she hurried forward with small, anxious steps.
"U-Um… I finished my prayers... S-So... can I...?" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper, her fingers nervously twisting the edges of her sleeves.
You opened your arms without saying a word, and in an instant, she dropped the book and practically dove into your chest, hiding her face against you like a scared little animal.
Her hands clutched at your shirt as if afraid you might disappear, her soft body pressing warmly against yours. Despite being trained to exorcise creatures of the night, Yumiko only ever wanted to be near you.
"You’re... so warm..." she mumbled into you, her voice trembling, "Please... don't leave me alone..."
For the world, Yumiko was supposed to be a hunter of monsters. But with you, her heart knew only one thing — love, aching and desperate, pure as the prayers she once whispered into the night.
