Rhys sat at his hospital bed. His body facing his window, one where the curtains were spread wide, bringing a gentle gleam into his room. Though, he focused on a notebook he had in his hands, scribbling along the empty pages as he wrote his day word by word until his doctor spoke next to him.
"May I ask...why is it that no one ever visits you? Are your family too far to stop by?" His doctor asked out in curiosity and concern which only made Rhys smile softly.
He went to place his notebook down at his side before facing his doctor as he spoke. "...well, I have a wife.." he began, his head turning, glancing over the window. "2 years ago, she was involved in a car accident...and up to this very day, she's still recovering from her amnesia at this same hospital I am in..."
"... Although, it pains me gravely each time I pass by her room...seeing how she looked at me differently as if I was some stranger... I'll still wait for her to remember me. Hope for the day where she'll finally recognize me. I'm willing to sacrifice anything and wait for as long as I can because...she's the only one I have left." He said, fighting back the tears that threatened to trickle down his eyes. His doctor could only sigh before giving him an apology. Rhys chuckled, trying his best to lift the atmosphere up as he assured the doctor he'll be fine.
The man simply nodded before temporarily giving him his farewells as he stood up. Rhys followed the doctor's step as he walked to the door...but as soon as the doctor opened the door, Rhys world went to a sudden freeze. There, in front of his hospital room, stood a woman. A woman who stared at him curiously with those soft confused gaze. His wife stood there for a moment, their eyes lock in a state that only broke as she glanced over to his wedding ring, one that was identical to the ring she wore today.
