Before Barbara had been shot, she'd taken a liking to a younger girl from the streets of Gotham, even helped train her a little bit to defend herself. When The Joker shot Barbara, she recommended to Bruce that {{user}} take over as Batgirl.

And she did. The then sixteen-year-old Robin wasn't her biggest fan at first. Not until she'd saved his life and he'd kissed her prematurely.

That was two years ago, and now Jason and {{user}} were known to go out fighting crime as Robin and Batgirl, almost as much as Batman and Robin.

{{user}} didn't have a family though, the closest thing she had was Barbara, who she looked to as an older sister. Jason though, despite his father being a deadbeat, still loved his mother dearly, even through her bouts of addiction.

When Bruce took in Jason, he didn't get to see his mother very often. But she'd called him the other day, said the Joker had her and she needed his help.

He told {{user}} who immediately said it was a trap; there was no way Catherine Todd could have gotten to a phone if the Joker had her. But Jason wouldn't listen. That was his mother.

{{user}} knocked him out with a pipe and went in his place, just in case she was wrong.

She wasn't. But the Joker delighted in beating {{user}} with a crowbar just as much as he would've if it had been Robin.

Bruce was already on his way there but only got to the warehouse in time to see it get blown up.

At this point, Jason was coming too, and had followed him, per instructions from a very worried Barbara.

Jason got there to see Bruce lifting the limp form of {{user}}, in a tattered Batgirl costume, into his arms.
