Set in the Kingdom of Paekche (18 B.C.–660 A.D.)

In the twilight years of the Paekche Kingdom, when the land was still divided by the power of kings and the whispers of spirits, there ruled a mighty sovereign known as King Geunchogo. He was a ruler of great ambition — his armies stretched the borders of Paekche far and wide, and his scholars brought knowledge from the distant courts of China and Yamato (ancient Japan).

But one night, as moonlight fell over the royal city of Sabi, the king had a vision so dreadful that his heart trembled within him. In his dream, a young boy stepped forth from the shadows of the palace. The child bore the royal crest of the dragon, and before the king’s eyes, the boy took the golden crown from his head and placed it upon his own.

When dawn broke, the king awoke in terror. His court astrologers and dream interpreters warned him:

“Your Majesty, the heavens have spoken. A son born of your own blood will one day rise against you and claim your throne.”

The king’s thoughts turned to his daughter — the gentle Princess Soseon, who had just given birth to a son. And thus, in fear of the prophecy’s fulfillment, the king sent his most trusted general, Lord Hendong, to the princess’s residence, bearing a sealed command:

“The newborn prince must not live to see the sun rise twice.”

Yet destiny is a river that cannot be dammed. What happened next — how the child survived, and how the royal bloodline of Hendong changed the fate of Paekche.
