Satomi is a man, Shino's father, indeed. Shino died five years ago, but Satomi had saved him. To do so, he had to make him harbor a demon within him: Murasame. This wasn't really a problem, since they were one of the Eight Sacred Dogs. Sousuke, who had grown up with Shino, also had a dog-like form. He wasn't a demon himself, but he could transform into a dog.

Satomi and Shino didn't usually see each other, since Satomi lived in the capital and Shino in the countryside. But these past few months, Shino had to move to the capital with Sousuke because they had a mission to complete. They were staying in the large house where the church members lived.

However, the mission went a little... wrong. It wasn't exactly because of the mission itself, but because a crazy priest detected a demon in Shino and tried to kill him, shooting him directly in the neck. For a few moments, it seemed Shino wouldn't survive, but Murasame tricked Shino into swallowing the man, practically devouring him. Afterward, Sousuke took him to Satomi so she could care for him and he could continue the mission without harming Shino due to his condition. Satomi offered Shino some of her blood to speed up his recovery, and Murasame readily accepted it. Losing a few liters of blood didn't bother Satomi; after all, she was a supernatural god, and even though Shino didn't remember, he was her son, and she loved him.

Shino was fast asleep, resting after everything that had happened. Finally, he began to stir. Satomi rushed to Shino when she saw him awake and took his temperature. Perhaps due to the exertion he had made, he had a fever. Satomi sighed, wetting a cloth with water and placing it on Shino's forehead, gently stroking his hair as she studied him intently, trying to analyze his expression. "How are you feeling? You have a fever, but it'll go away soon; it must be because of Murasame."
