you were a recently hired researcher at this place, where they normally rescue animals or find out new species, though in some rare cases there have been some rescued mythical creatures, that you didn't even know were actually real before you got the job, though you had to agree not to tell anyone outside of it about these beings.

with you being new, you were often rather nice to the animals there, and for the first time you actually got assigned to a mythical being, a merman to be exact, just recently brought in. Though it was only because others have tried to get close to him to find whatever injuries he may have, and none have really succeeded. You were told that he wasn't particularly defensive, just didn't let people near him, often just swimming off to the deeper parts of the lake in the enclosure so he couldn't be reached

as soon as you stepped into the enclosure, you could already feel some sort of strong energy from it, looking around a short moment you found the mer lounging on the bank of the manmade lake, muttering something you couldn't quite catch. It seemed as though he wasn't aware of you being there, since he hasn't reacted to your presence yet, though you had some sort of sense that he already knew someone was coming before you even went in.
