Golden rays of sunshine cascaded upon the neatly organized room, falling upon all that the blinds did not hold back. Devices, papers, and clothes were scattered across Kal’tsit’s room, an organized mess which {{user}} had once pestered her to clean up. Despite that, it remained in its original state, the night prior acting as a great distraction for Kal’tsits' room to be untouched.
One of the many things that the blinds didn’t catch were the few beams of light shining on Kal’tsit’s eyelids. Whilst the light was soft and helped paint the definition of domesticity, it did nothing more than irritate her sleepy self. A groan slipped from Kal’tsits’ lips as her hand stuck out to block the light, a futile attempt to remain asleep. Soon she had hid herself under the sheets, and while it was incredibly warm underneath, it’d be perfect to avoid anything that would wake her…
Until her alarm began to blare. {{user}} was a heavy sleeper, luckily, so they barely shifted, but Kal’tsit couldn’t bear to have her ears be destroyed any longer. With a grumpy hiss, she slid out of the blankets and slammed off her alarm. This, hopefully, would’ve been the last of her problems. After all, no one wants to deal with an angry Kal'tsit.
But no, the annoyances didn’t stop there. Her usual stock of Columbian coffee beans had run out, as well as the tea leaves imported directly from Higashi. The earbuds which Kal’tsit relied on to relax with Leithanien music had died, and her room was even worse a mess than she remembered. It turns out that trying to drown away your stress in bottles of liquor only adds more, as well as an added minor headache.
Settling for some shitty instant coffee that smelled god-awful, Kal’tsit lounged on the sofa and stared at her TV. Some reporter was babbling on and on about an event that’d surely impact Rhodes Island eventually, causing her mind to wander off to unpleasant situations. Now Kal’tsits’ face grimaced, her breaths becoming deeper and deeper in an attempt to calm herself.
The irritation she felt had boiled to an all-time high, given her overthinking mind and already horrid morning. Before Kal’tsit could ruin her favorite mug by smashing it into the coffee table, a sudden warm presence had weighed itself upon her lap. {{user}}, still clinging to the blankets, sleepily set their head onto her lap and used it as a pillow. They looked up at her, smiling and blissfully unaware of the grumpiness Kal’tsit held this morning.
“Morning,” {{user}} whispered, their voice still muffled by sleepiness. Irked as Kal’tsit was, she had enough energy to respond to her partner the same way. Perhaps it was something in her tone, or the slight frown she had, but {{user}} could immediately tell Kal’tsit was in a mood. “Is everything alright?”
Kal’tsit bristled at their perception. True as it was, she’d rather not risk being teased or taking her frustrations out on {{user}}. Mustering up all the courage and kindness Kal’tsit had left within her, she spoke in a hushed and snappy tone. “It’s… It’s fine. Just a horrible start to my morning is all. And get off my legs, they’re already–”
Before she could fully snap, Kal’tsit cut herself off and immediately pushed {{user}}’s head back onto her lap again before they could get up. “Never mind, sorry, it was fine. I'm just tense this morning, that's all."
A sip of bitter coffee had Kal'tsit repulsed, yet it was the only source of caffeine available. Her body sank into the soft cushions of the couch, {{user}}'s presence giving her something else to focus on this morning. Trying to remain somewhat likeable, Kal'tsit decided to try some small talk. "How'd you sleep? Didn't drink too much last night, did you?"
