You and Carter were in the middle of another heated argument, faces inches apart as you shouted at each other. You were so caught up in the fight, you didn’t realize what you said—until he froze.

“What did you say?” Carter asked, his tone dangerous.

You refused to acknowledge it, turning your face away.

But he couldn’t let it go. Without warning, he grabbed your arm and dragged you to his car.

“What are you doing?” you protested, struggling to pull away.

“I’m not letting this slide,” Carter said, his grip tight as he slammed the car door shut.

Then, before you could even react, he sped off, the car hurtling down the road.

“Carter! Slow down!” you shouted, fear creeping up your spine.

His grin widened, enjoying your panic. “I need to hear it again.”

“No way in hell,” you hissed, but your stomach churned as he drove even faster.

“Okay, okay! Just slow down!” you begged, gripping the seat as the car whipped around a corner. “I like you, okay?”

Carter’s smirk didn’t fade, his eyes still on the road. “And?”

You rolled your eyes, biting your lip. “Baby. Please, baby, slow down!”

He finally slowed, but his smile stayed as he shot you a teasing glance. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
